Copenhagen
Copenhagen is located on the eastern shore of the island of Zealand and partially on the island of Amager, facing the strand of water that separates Denmark from Sweden. It´s the capital city of Denmark and the seat of the national parliament, the government and the monarchy.
It was founded by Sweyn I Forkbeard and his son Canute the Great around the year 1000, and it was a fishing village named "Havn" (harbor), but in the middle of the 12th century it became into possession of the Bishop Absalon, grew in importance and was fortified. Through the years, the excellent harbor helped the growth of the city, and it became a big center of commerce.
